The Barolo named after a woodland.
Barolo DOCG Bricco San Pietro
A lute; the amplified resonance of its strings alters the tone of the terroir.
A lute; the amplified resonance of its strings alters the tone of the terroir. Bricco San Pietro is born where nature sets the rules. Just below a woodland, opposite Monforte d'Alba, in 2020 we launched a new project. A vineyard that bears the imprint of the place: the coolness of the woodland, the protection of the shade, the brilliance of the morning sun. To tell this story, we have chosen the lute. Just as the strings of this instrument, when plucked, produce a sound that is then amplified by the soundbox, this unique place amplifies every characteristic of the Nebbiolo. The woodland converses with the vineyard. The land speaks a new language.
Bricco San Pietro is the most robust Barolo in our range. An east-facing vineyard in Monforte d'Alba on soil derived from the sandy marl of Sant'Agata Fossili. Here, the Nebbiolo expresses all its tannic intensity, which ageing in large casks is able to tame over time. On the nose, spicy aromas and dried citrus peel. On the palate, it is austere and deep, with a very persistent finish where citrus peel and spices round off the taste. A wine dedicated to those who appreciate a wait.
